Solomon vs. Darwin

Proverbs 22:3, “A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.”

How often have I made my own misery? It seems to be a very human weakness (Isaiah 53:6a declares that “We all, like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way…"). If I cannot see it in myself (in which case, I am probably not being completely honest with myself), I can surely see it in my neighbors, family, friends, co-workers as well as the strangers I meet everyday!

We are bent towards self-destruction. Which all by itself is a significant argument against the central tenants of evolutionary theory; to wit, “How in the world have we remained the dominant species for over 10,000 years?!” Short answer: because while “evolutionary theory” hangs together on paper it does not fare so well in the real world, or else cockroaches would rule the earth!

Anyway, given my/our propensity for folly/stupidity we require more than a larger brain case – we need grace and the help and good-will of a truly superior being – God! Without Him, we’re doomed! Fortunately, He is more than willing to come along side us and meet our needs! We simply have to ask.

“Lord, walk with us through this day… and every day! Grant us Your Wisdom, Strength, Courage and Protection. Help us, Lord, we are undone without You!”
