7-22-2010 Contentment

After a few weeks of vacation I am still not quite back into the swing of doing “video blogs”, so here is something from my journal for you to read:

Proverbs 15:16f says, “Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil. Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred.”

It is, after all, not “the more” that makes us happy but the joy and peace of knowing God and of knowing that we are forgiven and loved! Modest living in a healthy environment is greatly to be preferred over lavish living in a toxic environment of hatred and faithlessness. History shows that the end of rejecting God and His love and Grace is always meaninglessness, madness and death. There is no amount of wealth that can bring peace or joy or hope in the face of that – just ask Howard Hughes… or Dorian Gray!

“Father, help us to find our contentment in our relationship with You and what You have given to us. We really are blessed – right where we stand! Amen!”
